Whether you’re looking to prevent dental problems or simply want that fresh, clean feeling, these appointments work for both adults and children.
Hygiene care is particularly helpful if you’re dealing with gum disease, from mild gingivitis to severe periodontist, a build-up of plaque or tartar, or staining from tea, coffee or smoking. But here’s the thing—even when your teeth and gums feel absolutely fine, there’s often something happening beneath the surface that you might not notice. That’s where preventive care becomes one of the best investments you can make in your oral health. Regular visits can help reduce the risk of tooth decay, gum disease and bad breath, while giving you the practical support and personalised care you deserve.

Gentle, Compassionate Cleaning That Really Understands You
We know that dental anxiety is real, and we’re here to change that narrative. If you’ve had uncomfortable experiences in the past, you’re not alone—and you absolutely deserve compassionate, quality care. Simone, our hygienist, is renowned for her gentle, inclusive approach and genuine curiosity about what makes each patient feel at ease. Many describe their time with her as more like a spa visit than a dental appointment.
That amazing fresh-mouth feeling after a clean? We want you to experience it without the stress.
During your appointment, we carefully remove plaque and tartar deposits from above and below the gumline, helping prevent gum disease and protect the structures supporting your teeth. We use Airflow technology—a gentler, more comfortable alternative to traditional methods—that first stains your teeth to help identify areas you might be missing in your daily routine. Then, using warm water, air, and fine powder, it gently removes surface stains and biofilm, leaving your teeth exceptionally clean and smooth. The result? A noticeably brighter smile and a far more pleasant experience.
Our goal is straightforward: help you maintain a healthy mouth while making your visit as relaxed and accessible as possible. We offer practical tips tailored to your unique needs, because everyone can receive the care they deserve.
Regular hygiene visits are genuinely vital. Combined with your daily care routine, they’re one of the most important things you can do for your teeth, gums, and overall wellbeing. Research shows connections between gum health and conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and strokes—so this isn’t just about your smile; it’s about your health.
What to Expect at the Practice
Before, during and after – here is exactly how your visit runs, so nothing on the day comes as a surprise.

Getting Ready: What to Expect
Before your treatment, we will review your dental and medical history and discuss any concerns you may have about your oral health.

Getting You Comfortable and Cared For
Simone will conduct a thorough assessment of your oral health, examining your gums, jaw joints, and teeth while charting what she finds. She’ll measure any gum recession, check for deep pockets, and take radiographs if needed—all to ensure these areas remain stable and healthy. Using our gentle Airflow technology, she’ll remove plaque, tartar, and stains with care.
We’re curious about your unique situation—your medical history and lifestyle habits tell us a lot about what might be affecting your oral health. Together, we’ll identify potential risk factors like smoking, medications that cause dry mouth, or acidic foods and drinks that can wear down your teeth. Then we’ll work collaboratively to develop practical, personalised strategies you can use at home that actually fit your life.
Your comfort matters to us. Throughout your visit, we’ll explain exactly what we’re doing and check in regularly to make sure you’re feeling okay. Because everyone deserves compassionate, quality care that respects their needs—and we’re here to make sure you get it.

After Your Appointment: Settling In and Moving Forward
After your hygiene appointment, we’ll chat through personalised support tailored to your unique needs—covering brushing techniques, interproximal cleaning aids (we’re genuinely big fans of Piksters and Teepees!), diet, and home care strategies to help you maintain those fresh, clean results.
We stock a carefully curated range of products we honestly recommend, because let’s face it—they’re sometimes impossible to find at your local supermarket or pharmacy. Here’s the good news: we offer free postage on all of these products, so when you run out, there’s no need to make an inconvenient trip to restock.
You’ll likely notice your teeth feel noticeably cleaner, smoother, and fresher right after treatment. That’s the magic of quality care! We’ll recommend regular maintenance appointments based on your individual needs and schedule—not a one-size-fits-all approach. This fairness means you get exactly the care you deserve, helping keep your teeth and gums thriving for the long term.

Frequently Asked Questions
The questions Wagga families ask us most about this service.
Does a scale and clean hurt?
Most patients find the treatment comfortable, particularly with thew Airflow machine, and Simones’ gentle approach. Simone always checks if you have sensitive teeth or gums, and takes extra steps to keep you comfortable throughout the duration of the appointment. It feels more like a relaxing visit to a spa than a visit to the dentist. .
How often should I have my teeth professionally cleaned?
For most people, every twelve months is appropriate, although some patients with gum disease or other risk factors may benefit from more frequent visits. Simone will assess your individual needs, and the most beneficial recall for you.
What is Airflow?
Airflow is an advanced cleaning system that uses warm water, air and a fine powder to gently remove stains, plaque and biofilm from the teeth. Our practice was the first practice in Wagga Wagga to purchase an Airflow machine, and Simone and the team regularly update on the latest techniques and maintenance required for this revolutionary machine. It is the gold standard for any gum care.
Can Airflow remove coffee, tea and smoking stains?
Yes. Airflow is highly effective at removing many surface stains caused by tea, coffee, smoking and red wine
Why do I need a professional clean if I brush and use interproximal cleaning aids daily?
Even with excellent home care, plaque can harden into tartar, which cannot be removed by brushing alone. Professional cleaning helps remove these deposits and reduces the risk of gum disease. Simone will measure any gum recession, any deep gum pockets and any bleeding, to check if there is any change, as unfortunately gum disease does not hurt until it is often severe.
When using interproximal cleaning aids effectively, inflammation reduces, and then a larger size if often needed. At every visit, Simone will assess and advise on this.
Sometimes tooths sensitivity can develop, or worsen, especially in the colder winter months, and again we advise on how to treat this at home, often by using more effective sensitive toothpaste.
Do I need to floss?
Flossing is not as recommended as using other aids like Piksters or teepees that are shaped like a brush. Therse are more effective at removing plaque in between teeth, and are considered the gold standard of a daily effective routine for your oral health. Flossing is no longer the ideal. However, for a few patients, used correctly flossing can be effective, if the patient prefers this to other interproximal cleaning aids.
