About Our Practice

Care that begins with listening

A family dental practice that has grown up alongside Wagga Wagga

For more than four decades, families across the Riverina have trusted us with the people they love most. We are a small, close team who know our patients by name — and often know their parents and their children too. That continuity matters. It means we understand your history, we notice what changes, and we can talk plainly with you about what your teeth actually need.

Our Story

Forty-three years in the same community

Dr Mary-Anne Slater has practised dentistry in Wagga Wagga since January 1984. What began small has grown to become a practice that looks after whole families — grandparents, parents and children who all sit in the same rooms, with the same team, year after year.

That length of relationship changes how dentistry is done. We are not meeting you for the first time when something goes wrong. We already know what your mouth looks like when it is healthy, so we can catch small problems while they are still small — and we can be honest when the right answer is to leave something alone.

What We Believe

Four things we hold to, whether we are seeing a two-year-old for their first visit or replacing a crown fitted twenty years ago.

You are told the truth

If a tooth can be watched rather than drilled, we will say so. We would rather lose the appointment than sell you treatment you do not need.

Nobody is judged

People arrive having avoided us for ten years, embarrassed. We have heard it all before and we start from where you are, not from where you think you should be.

You can stop at any moment

Raise a hand and we pause — children and adults alike. Knowing you can stop is usually what makes it possible to keep going.

The whole family, one practice

From a toddler’s first look to your grandmother’s dentures. Comprehensive individual electronic records, one team, and appointments we try to line up on the same afternoon.

Meet the Team

The same faces, visit after visit. You will not be handed between locums or asked to explain your history again.

Dr Mary-Anne Slater

Dentist BDS Adelaide

Dr Mary-Anne Slater

Mary-anne graduated from Adelaide University, fulfilling a childhood dream to be a dentist. Moving to Wagga in 1984 she planned to stay for a couple of years, but Wagga has been home ever since! After working both in private practice and at the Wagga Base Hospital, Mary-anne established the practice at The Esplanade in 1995.

Passionate about anything dental, Mary-anne’s special interests include preventive dentistry and identifying the high caries risk patient, children’s dentistry, treating anxious patients of any age, diagnosis and treatment planning, and implant dentistry. She is currently having a break from spending Friday (her day off at the practice) at CSU teaching final year dental students. Mary-anne also enthusiastically welcomes work experience students from high school and TAFE and university, to glimpse life in a dynamic general dental practice.

Outside of dentistry Mary-anne loves spending time with her family (Don and their adult children George, Arthur, Henry, Jane and their partners and friends) and friends, keeping fit, cooking, gardening, reading and travelling.

Simone completed a diploma of health science in 1999 before training with the Australian Defence Force. Simone was deployed to East Timor in 2002 on a peace keeping mission and awarded the Australian Active Service medal (AASM) for her services. Simone then went on to complete a Bachelor of Oral Health and graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2007.

As well as working in private practice since graduating, Simone has previously worked with CSU tutoring oral health students and servicing nursing homes across the Riverina. She has recently written and contributed to a chapter in a new publication called Healthy Ageing and Aged Care which is a university recommended textbook. Her particular interests are in gum disease (periodontitis) and aged care.

Simone loves cycling, golf, and rugby union — well, any sport. Her surgery is called the sports room. Although she loves having a chat about anything!

Jenny has been in the dental industry for 40 years which is a testament to how much she enjoys it and rewarding she finds it. She has been working with Mary-Anne for most of those years and is still loving chair side assisting.

Jenny spends her spare time active with a keen interest in all types of sports. Jenny loves to go camping, water skiing and paddle boarding in summer, and snow skiing in winter, with her husband, children, and their partners. Jenny cherishes time with her grandchildren. Jenny also loves to travel and is looking forward to much more travel in the future.

Bridie Delahunty

Chair Side Assistant

Bridie Delahunty

Bridie is a familiar face around the practice, first joining our team back in 2022 before moving away to start her university studies. We welcomed Bridie back to the surgery at the start of 2026 when she moved back to Wagga whilst continuing her criminology degree online.

Bridie plans to join the police force after graduation, combining her interest in justice with a dedication to helping others.

When she is not at work, you will usually find Bridie on the netball court, spending time with her horses, adventuring with her dog, or enjoying life on the farm with her partner.
