Mary-anne graduated from Adelaide University, fulfilling a childhood dream to be a dentist. Moving to Wagga in 1984 she planned to stay for a couple of years, but Wagga has been home ever since! After working both in private practice and at the Wagga Base Hospital, Mary-anne established the practice at The Esplanade in 1995.
Passionate about anything dental, Mary-anne’s special interests include preventive dentistry and identifying the high caries risk patient, children’s dentistry, treating anxious patients of any age, diagnosis and treatment planning, and implant dentistry. She spends Fridays (her day off the practice) at CSU teaching final year dental students. Mary-anne also enthusiastically welcomes work experience students from high school and TAFE and university, to glimpse life in a dynamic general dental practice.
Outside of dentistry Mary-anne loves spending time with her family (Don and their adult children George, Arthur, Henry and Jane) and friends, keeping fit, cooking, gardening, reading, crocheting and travelling.
Simone completed a diploma of health science in 1999 before training with the Australian Defence Force. Simone was deployed to East Timor in 2002 on a peace keeping mission and awarded the Australian Active Service medal (AASM) for her services. Simone then went on to complete a Bachelor of Oral Health and graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2007.
As well as working in private practice since graduating, Simone has previously worked with CSU tutoring oral health students and servicing nursing homes across the Riverina. She has recently written and contributed to a chapter in a new publication called Healthy Ageing and Aged Care which is a university recommended textbook. Her particular interests are in gum disease (periodontitis) and aged care.
Simone loves cycling, golf, and rugby union…..well any sport. Her surgery at Dr Mary Anne Slater’s is called the sports room. Although she loves having a chat about anything!!
Annie has been in the dental industry since 1987, and with Maryanne and the practice since 1997.
She loves working with the public and gets a lot of personal satisfaction from helping people and making sure their needs are met. She loves working in a supportive and caring environment with such a tight knit team. You might find Annie in the garden on the weekends or tucking into a good book or enjoying a walk.
She spends a lot of her time with her family including her 2 beautiful daughters and hubby.
Jenny has been in the dental industry for 40 years which is a testament to how much she enjoys it and rewarding she finds it. She has been working with Mary-Anne for most of those years and is still loving chair side assisting. Jenny loves the variety that each day brings and meeting all the wonderful people that come through the doors.
Jenny spends her spare time active with a keen interest in all types of sports. Jenny loves to go camping, water skiing and paddle boarding in summer, and snow skiing in winter, with her husband, children, and their partners. Jenny cherishes time with her grandchildren. Jenny also loves to travel and is looking forward to much more travel in the future.
Bridie is a familiar face around the practice, first joining our team back in 2022 before moving away to start her university studies. We welcomed Bridie back to the surgery at the start of 2026 when she moved back to Wagga whilst continuing her criminology degree online. Bridie plans to join the police force after graduation, combining her interest in justice with a dedication to helping others.
When she is not at work, you will usually find Bridie on the netball court, spending time with her horses, adventuring with her dog, or enjoying life on the farm with her partner.
If you visited the practice in 2022 but didn’t meet Bridie, you may have met her big sister Kirralee. Kirralee joined the team during Covid while face-to-face university learning was not possible. She is thrilled to be joining the team again, after moving home while completing her final year of Master of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Kirralee is looking forward to being able to help people live happy and healthy lives, and believes working at the practice is responsible for her flourishing patient communication skills. Outside of work Kirralee enjoys travelling, spending time with her friends and family, and cuddling her dogs and miniature pony.
